So tomorrow will be the 129th different away opponent and the 165th ground that we have played a competitive match on (not counting Pre 1950 non-league as there was no proper structure in place). York road is the oldest continuously-used senior association football ground in the world by the same club, having been home to the club since 1871. Maidenhead have a rich history being one of the 15 clubs to compete in the first ever FA Cup.
There was Lincolnshire team in the first FA Cup: Donington School, but they could not afford the journey to play Queens Park of Glasgow and so did not play.
Donington down Boston way Greylag 🤔
Yes, Iron Awe. The school is now called The Thomas Cowley High School.
There was a Lincolnshire team in the first FA Cup: Donington School, but they could not afford the journey to play Queen’s Park of Glasgow and so did not play.
And they never entered the competition again! They were drawn against Queen’s Park in the first round but neither team could agree a date so they were both given a bye! Imagine Donington’s dismay when they were drawn against them again!! So the FA Cup record for Donington School is: Two ties, Won 0 Drawn 0 Lost 0…
I’m off now to work out how many Lincolnshire teams have entered the competition! Thanks Greylag…
