March 6, 2023 at 9:01 am #256687If we start with wingers and Bennett plus Elliott up top we will win.

Did you see Bennett play on Saturday? Just imagine him and Elliott getting decent service from a couple of wingers, which we have in the squad, that’s where the goals will come from and i’m sure it would work at this level.

March 6, 2023 at 1:12 pm #256702Have you sent Jimmy a copy of your post I-a, it might set him thinking and he could pretend it was his idea. Only Bruers will know the truth.

Snow !!! is it forecast ?, dont follow the weather back home but strangely i do miss snow and frosty mornings as well as fish n chips and the footy… cool season just ending here with at least 3 to 4 months of nasty heat and humidity before monsoon rainy season in July.
As i put on another thread my line up would be 442 and if it happens will change my prediction from a draw to a Scunny win… get Elliot in the goals and he will come good n slot a few in.

March 6, 2023 at 2:42 pm #256710I do hope not Iff, Jimmy doesn’t really need to see what’s posted about him, give him time to find out what bunch of arseholes quite a few of the fans are, sack him after 6 games ffs.
March 6, 2023 at 3:00 pm #256713I agree, Sheilds and wilson out wide with Feeney and ferris as back up with a proper front two.
March 6, 2023 at 10:42 pm #256727I would go for a 1-1 draw, we cannot keep a clean sheet, and do not score many goals, but it has really reached the stage where results do not matter, the gap is too much now, and only 11 games remain, add to that most teams have matches in hand, it is difficult to see Scunny getting any more that four wins at the very most, which would probably be a bottom two spot, never mind getting out of the bvottom four.
So 1-1.
March 7, 2023 at 12:29 am #256728Disagree, there’s still a chance but we’re getting to a point where we have to start winning and that starts tomorrow. Anything other than a win is no good.

Yes still a very slim chance of survival and agree with your last sentence 100% .. even a draw is no good… is it snowing yet is the game likely to be off ?
March 7, 2023 at 6:58 am #256733Only chance it will be off will be down to frozen pitch. If it is on then we need to be winning it. I’d go 4/4/2 tell Butterfield and Bunker to go full pelt and come 2nd half replace them with Pugh and Fewster if needed to add fresh legs.
Shields and Wilson out wide with Feeney or Ferris to replace Shields as he won’t be match fit so can’t see him lasting. Bennett and Elliot up top, play with speed and width with balls in the box and have a right go.
None of this negative Dean bullshit from here on in, this is it right here we need to be winning and winning now starting tonight. Dean has the players at his disposal, it’s up to him to use them properly.
March 7, 2023 at 7:31 am #256738Not Ferris. A bit too undercooked.

March 7, 2023 at 8:53 am #256740I’d prefer Feeney to come on for Shields. I was just saying him and Feeney were the obvious back up options.

Nurse, my meds please!March 7, 2023 at 8:14 pm #256798I thought Dean said it was ‘must win’? This is dire! What’s he playing at?
March 7, 2023 at 8:35 pm #256799Sort it out Dean. That last chance shows they’re there for the taking if we get forward more. Got to capitalise on the opposition’s vulnerability at the back.
March 7, 2023 at 9:41 pm #256800Credit to Dean and the players for pushing forward and pressing second half, making it almost an enjoyable watch! Agree with Ogle MotM

Well done lads, now make a habit of it!!

March 7, 2023 at 10:24 pm #256804Strange game, first half too deep, nowhere near enough to the opposition as a result therefore no pressure on the opponent who ran the game comfortably without being too dangerous. Altrincham after their battering on Saturday would have probably settled for an away point and maybe even grab a cheeky winner. However second half, play further up the park, therefore nearer the opponent, therefore put them under pressure with better pressing, they don’t like it, they can’t handle it and it’s a comfortable win for the Iron. Still not too sure about how Jimmy wants the team set up but I think he will continue to chop and change whatever we think and I expect more mixed results until we are finally relegated in ten games time. Ah well, Up The Iron.

March 7, 2023 at 10:43 pm #256805He got some pelters on Saturday but Credit to Dean for getting a response 2nd half; their hands dropped when we got in front and it looked comfortable there on in.
Back 4 all had a good game, as did Bennett. Midfield still looks disjointed and there were far too many gaps which allowed altrincham to play, without ever really threatening.
Results against us tonight so unfortunately we haven’t gained any ground, but we all know the writing is on the wall anyway, just need to start looking at getting a settled team, picking up a few more wins and build some momentum ready for the NLN adventure next year.
March 7, 2023 at 11:00 pm #256806I enjoyed the second half performance, 2 goals and a fighting performance, and we didn’t deliberately sit back, I don’t think they had a real effort on target all game, though the first half wasn’t brilliant it was still better than Saturday, Smith and Everton-Richard’s were excellent and Ogle played well and Leake didn’t do anything wrong, but it was great the way we battled in the second half and if we could do that for 90 minutes we have a chance, and our first ever win over Altrincham at the sixth attempt.

March 8, 2023 at 12:22 am #256808One thing about Leake is that at least he’s positionally a good defender and has good energy, not that good when it comes to passing or linking with players but he’s solid enough.
Richards everton is proving to be really solid, Will Smith is looking really good and Ogle’s hit some good form. Not sure on us going forward though because at times we have absolutely no cohesion whatsoever.
Another 90 minutes will have done Bennett the world of good and Shields looked good when he came on. I’d be tempted to start Shields next match, as soon as he has the chance he whips the ball in which is needed in that formation.
March 8, 2023 at 3:31 am #256809Did a commentator say that we now have him as a permanent addition?
