So the Iron now know who they will face in next Saturday .. the winner of Alfreton v Boston , quite surprised to see Boston nick 6th spot from Curzon who couldny beat 10 man bottom side BS on the last day… a certain Jai Rowe scoring for Boston !
So who do you fancy from these two and why ??
IMO Boston would be good for attendance and atmos but i feel we have a better chance to beat Alfreton going on how the games played during the season panned out.
One thing is for sure being totally realistic AS IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY we cannot carry on this trait of only performing in only one half into the PO semi , yes of late the team has come from behind to win but this was against some really poor sides and i dont want either Alfreton or Boston to be ahead due to a poor first half showing and able to shut up shop and us not being unable to break them down thereafter (another trait this season).
JD has some huge decisions to make re line up , bench and game tactics and i hope he gets it bang on.
FWIW .. Expecting Chorley to beat Curzon in the other Poff fixture…and Brackley to beat Chorley to reach the final to play hopefully Scunny.
Lots of drama to come thats for sure.
April 21, 2024 at 8:05 am #284275A fair summary, IFA.

April 21, 2024 at 9:28 am #284278Agreed IFA with most of that, would point out however that Hereford were not a poor side indeed they were a very good side with two excellent wingers and we came from behind to deservedly beat them in a cracking game. Would agree we need to perform for 90 minutes not just 45, still can’t fully work out why we have been so hot and cold over the season in such a lot of games.

April 21, 2024 at 9:56 am #284280Assuming there is extra time after 90 mins do we get an extra sub to use? (I fancy we’ll meet Chorley in final as they’ll do a number on Brackley but we’ll see….)
April 21, 2024 at 10:33 am #284283Beware of Alfreton, they’re having a good spell.
Only lost one in the last ten and scored more goals than Tamworth this season.1 user thanked author for this post.

April 21, 2024 at 11:53 am #284289Dear Marjorie
i dont want to sound like a doom n gloom ball bag but i honestly do not have a good feeling about these play offs , cant say why im not as optimistic as most other fans seem to be… i dont think there are any favourites in these types of winner takes all fixtures as the Cods proved getting out the NL as they did.
It really would be a fantastic way to end a roller coaster few months when the club so so close to being gone but dark thoughts re inconsistent spells strange tactics , the old chestnut about us not turning up for big games AND TERRIBLE OFFICIALS are swaying me to predict it wont be our year despite being at GPAA… OBVIOUSLY I HOPE IM WRONG
Basically ITS A LOTTERY and we have one of 6 willy wonka tickets.
Yours Worried Iron fan

April 21, 2024 at 12:44 pm #284295The biggest danger to US is US. Brackley & Chorley will scrap for everything providing we don’t treat either Alfreton or Boston with disrespect.
Imperative that we enter each game with our best team available and tactics to make opponents cope with us and no tippy tappy chuckle brothers football. I hope JD realises any game now is sudden death ! There will not be a second chance.

April 21, 2024 at 9:12 pm #284329If memory serves we played quite well against Boston first half but their manager sussed us out at half time and we played second fiddle all second half. I wouldn’t want us to face them in the playoffs

April 23, 2024 at 3:54 pm #284412All I have to do is look up slightly from my armchair to view an idyllic scene with country cottage beside a pond.
An oil painting for £60, purchased a quarter of a century ago, it is a masterpiece by a gentleman called Richard Terence Heath.
Terry was truly one of our best CMs of all time.1 user thanked author for this post.
April 23, 2024 at 4:08 pm #284413I just have that awful feeling of Alfreton beating Boston and then us, with somebody smirking in background.
Tell me it’s just a nightmare.April 23, 2024 at 4:24 pm #284414Okay. Again the commentary isn’t where they have been all season. Are we supposed to guess? I don’t particularly want to buy the Vanarama TV to keep an eye on our opponents.

30 minutes time extra.
Really hard fought.
In the meantime, the Iron have had a nice rest.
Brilliant!April 23, 2024 at 10:19 pm #284425My thoughts exactly, however, has it helped us in the past?
April 23, 2024 at 10:41 pm #284427Dull game. Both teams cause issues with long throws. Would Like to think both can be beaten at home on Saturday
