Im quite surprised by the away score predictions of some fans on social media, i think Curzon was a wake up call for how teams will set up against us making games (especially away) very difficult..

Im going for 1-1 at Alfreton

I think we’ll see that Curzon were a better team than we gave them credit for. Even so, we might have got a point if the pitch had been playable for the last 20 minutes.

No they weren’t, we just didn’t take our chances, if we’d gone 1 nil up in the the first 15 mins like we should have done we’d have hammered them imo, similar game to Peterborough sports but Curzon didn’t attack as much but credit for their defending threw all their body’s into it. I did start a thread up after 2 games questioning whether the mire, curse or malaise has gone from us I’ve watched 4 games, Tamworth we were shite, Peterborough we threw it, Curzon could have and should have won, and Scarborough we got the result we deserved, but points wise were top of the league so ain’t complaining, But out of that mire, curse or whatever yet to be convinced. Looking forward to Saturday not as much as I would have been if we were on the train see you all there and let’s hope for another good result 0-3 for me.

In the 2 you missed Awaywego we were the better team, played well and achieved deserved and fairly comfortable wins.

I was impressed with Dean and the teams reaction to the Curzon performance and result.

At Curzon we played at too slow a tempo, midfielders and full backs rarely broke the line in support of the forwards and we did not drive at the defenders with the ball. Against Scarborough (probably a better side than Curzon) we did all 3 things much better.

It’s promising the coaching team identified the problems and had them fixed 2 days later.

I don’t remember having any real chances in the first half at Curzon other than a couple of Butterfield shots from distance.

1-1 @ odds of 5/1 is the shortest priced correct score forecast tomorrow.

Maybe not know the true figure for away fans tomorrow, 600 sold but that doesn’t include anyone under 15.

Expect Alfreton to set up similar to Curzon not as open as Scarboro were , will the Iron be able to break them down and find those incisive passes to split a defense ?

My heart says 2-1 to Scunny
    My head says 1-1

Safe journey to all who travel , enjoy the day

Going to stop in South Normanton for pre match drink. The Hawthornes on the main road by the garage looks OK.

Shite refs every week missed everything, we got 2 elbows both sending offs didn’t even get the foul, linesman didn’t see nothing either except the pint he had thrown over him, tuther one flagging Whitehall offside when clear through miles inside, enjoyable day and played well with the ten men better, officials and we would have won, points a point let’s beat South Shields for the first time Tuesday.

Turned away for the red card- seen half say it was and half say it wasn’t?

Ref was atrocious again for us, don’t really tend to moan about the refs but there seems a massive drop in quality from the national league.

Happy to leave there with a point despite having a few chances 2nd half. Smith looked lively when he came on so can hopefully slot into Scale’s
    Position. Overall, an entertaining game.

Enjoyable awayday aswell with around 1,000 Iron fans there; never stopped singing. Plenty of old faces coming out the woodwork too, long may it continue.

Very enjoyable day out, nice easy drive and sat back in Scunthorpe, pint in hand by half 6!

A very good point after playing nigh on 90 mins with ten men in very hot, humid conditions, 11 v 11 and I think we would have won at a canter. Ref was appalling, couldn’t see the Scales challenge clearly enough to give an honest opinion of it but speaking to some lads on the way out who were round that side, they said a yellow at worst?

The elbow on Evans was a straight red and how the ref and lino both missed it is mind boggling!

I thought the lads worked their knackers off yesterday, special mentions for Ogle, Evans and Smith who were superb.

Disappointing to hear some of our fans having a pop at Elliott, yes he didn’t have the best of games, but he never stopped trying which is all you can ask when a player is having an off day.

As for the bell ends throwing drinks over the lino and keeper, piss off and support another club, your sort are not wanted and was bang out of order.

I thought it was probably a red, but there was arguably a foul on Whitehall in the build-up to it.

Good video. I don’t think it was a red card, if you slow it down Scales feet didn’t touch him. Player bought that with his overreaction which a decent ref wouldn’t be conned by. Having said that, why dive in and give a poor ref a decision to make ? I don’t think it was a foul on Whitehall in the build up, slowed down it was a good challenge and Whitehall fell over (again). Alfreton video editor seems to have missed both of the elbow incidents….
Fitzsimons will be disappointed he didn’t save both of their goals. Oh well, this is going to be a very tough season. South Shields game on Tuesday will tell a lot about how it’s going to go.

Clear red for me. He goes in two-footed with excessive force.

Watched it about 20 times and I still don’t see a two footed challenge, and as for excessive force….have a day off!

By the letter of the law it’s ‘serious foul play’ which includes one footed lunges that endanger the safety of an opponent. He can’t have any complaints

I thought it was probably a red, but there was arguably a foul on Whitehall in the build-up to it.

I thought that their lad was cleverer and quicker than Whitehall by coming around the side and getting his foot to the ball. Our lad was already half down hoping for a free kick.

The amateur theatrics by their player and Jordy Thewliss’ chimpanzeque hysterics resulted in an over reaction from the ref.
    Yellow card IMHO.
