Having a medical this morning. 270 odd games for Morecambe. Fans on their forum very complimentary using words like committed, battling and no ego. Too be fair the kind of character needed and more like him.

Not sure how to view this other than we are signing a player that is used to a relegation fight.

This comment on the Morecambe says a lot about our budget and type of player we are in for.

‘Would imagine one of the lowest earners in the squad but absolutely one of the most loyalist. What he lacked in techinal ability more than made up in passion, heart and determination and seems like he loved every minute playing for our club!’

So if he is not a money grabbing merchant and plays with passion he deserves to find a club.

He’s a loyalist? Great, get him in. That should please a number of posters on here.

To be fair he seems to be a ,’clogger’ type but i would take that and have him give 100% in every game rather than a lot of players we seem to have signed in recent years that go missing for months on end or get injured a lot and get called wage thief’s by pissed of fans. Its not ideal and certainly would not be the calibre of player for me to build around for a promotion push. But to make us more combative and competitive than last season? Absolutely.

Am worried about the lack of ability comment more than anything else. Our current squad is already severely lacking in ability. Can anyone honestly tell me where the goals are going to come from as we have no creative players and no goalscorers.

    Could be a good recruit.

Biggest issue as always is communication at this club, but only one person responsible and cannot see any change.

Didn’t Morecambe get promoted last season? Or was he not involved in that?

Good luck to him, my only query is whether a midfielder is top priority, given the players left on the books. Then again, we’re not exactly well stocked in any department, so take them where we can get them I guess!

Creative MF should be a priority, this is not him. But I always welcome wholehearted 100% ers.

Forgive me not getting excited, hasn’t been a regular starter for the past 3 seasons (started a whopping 10 games last season). Whoop-dee-do!

He’s been there 8 years! Last year was the only year they were anywhere near the top and he played in about a quarter of the games

Doom and gloom, Random, some say a clogger, Stephen Dawson could put his boot in but was a leader, let’s give the lad a chance, he may be great or bad, but if he has played at a club 8 years and played 200 plus games he must have something about him.

Didn’t we have a midfielder who had all this plus ability, here last season?

Will be interesting to hear what Jem has to say on the podcast.

Will he reveal what multiple of Kenyon’s wages he was looking for? If, as reported, Morecambe had the lowest L2 budget then possibly Kenyon fitted the chairman’s criteria perfectly.

From a Morecambe fan on twitter
“Good signing for @SUFCOfficial Fantastic bloke, never stops smiling, a brilliant character to have in any club and always gives 100%. Has a fierce determination too. 3-2 down against Yeovil and it was energy and a great cross for the winner that won us the game.”

I can only apologise Mick, up until last season i was still a positive scunny fan. I have just had all that positivity wiped out of me, the negativity i am displaying has come by watching almost every game last season and the style of football we played was the worst i have seen. You dont mind it in a few games but we were the same in all but a couple of matches and we were only saved by relegation due to southend having a transfer embargo at the start of the season.
Today’s signing is telling me to expect more of the same next season. Hopefully he is just part of the jigsaw and the one to replace jem and the more exciting signings are yet to arrive.

No doubt he sounds the type of character we need but what’s worrying me and by the looks of it other posters is the fact we need CREATIVITY.

Spence is of that ilk and Beestin can do that and get forward, we need a more creative player who can spot a pass.

Who in the squad can really pick a good pass out and set chances up besides Beestin ?… who’s more of a chance taker than a pure creator.

We do need leader types but we also need creativity inputting into the squad, if not we’re fooked. No amount of battling will save us if we haven’t got the guile to create chances.

No Gillead and no Eisa…leaves a fairly sizeable gap.

I have stated more than once that we need a number of players of exactly this type to stop the appalling slide which has been allowed to happen.
Caring signings with guts will bring the best out of the plodders and the continuity players.
Even so, one signing does not make a summer.

Burny he is the first part of the jigsaw, I am hoping we make quite a few more signings, at least he is a player with experience at this level and not 2 League’s belo.

Random, there is no need to apologise I completely agree with your comments at what has happened during the last 3 seasons especially the dire negative crap last season, at least the lads of last season who are left are more experienced than a year ago, but the new signings need to be League 2 standard then it gives Cox a better chance to play the attacking football he promised and if he doesn’t it will be his fault.

he has maybe asked the question who will be in goal, and didn’t liked the answer.

As long as it’s not one of those jigsaws you buy from a charity shop, that is a picture of kittens and has one piece missing!

I just hope we aren’t relying on Hallam for the midfield creative spark when there’s a big chance he’ll be injured for most of it.

If we sign a more creative midfielder, fair enough. Reduced budget though and we already have Hallam, spence, Beestin and Kenyon soon.

Will we even go out for another CM player ?

A cheap loan for the season at a push but I can’t see another permanent one coming in.

He can be the greatest battler in the world…still doesn’t change the fact our current most creative midfielder has spent 70+ % of his time in the treatment room.

I just hope we snag a good one on loan to help us out.
