Gone to bradford of all the so called better players I was convinced he would have gone to a league 1 club, just proves how much this virus is effecting football.
Only the clubs that have big money owners are splashing the cash! this could be the death of the smaller clubs in leagues 1 and 2.June 28, 2021 at 7:46 pm #209371He’s been there before.
Gilliead, Eisa, Sutton, Novak.
We didn’t exactly set the league alight when we had them.
Will be interesting to see how they perform under Adams.
June 28, 2021 at 8:02 pm #209373Novak released. Interesting that, so far, none of our ‘better’ players have moved to a higher level. Is Motherwell above L2 standard?
June 28, 2021 at 8:44 pm #209375Disappointing that he was willing to stay in league 2 but we couldn’t manage to keep him.
He is the only one who is 100% better than league 2 and can stay fit.
We must be offering peanuts.

June 29, 2021 at 12:27 am #209379Swann wants non-league football at Scunny, thats why our better players have all been binned, another reason that backs this view is the fact that Cox is still in charge after his terrible record of last season, there is nothing coming from the club for loyal fans, well that should read ex-loyal fans, the only club info that keeps appearing is that season tickets are on sale, but I would think that supporters would need a bit of Swanns usual bullshit, like we have been fed over the past 7 years, and we have all taken it in until this season!!!!!!!!!!

Errrr…no.
Some of us saw through him years ago, and were roundly abused by those who thought they knew better.June 29, 2021 at 9:12 am #209382Disappointing that he was willing to stay in league 2 but we couldn’t manage to keep him.

We must be offering peanuts. It’s possible (but unlikely) that we offered him an extension on his current terms but were still outbid by Bradford who clearly have a healthier budget. They also have greater potential to progress and may have told him he will be allowed to play to his strengths rather than as an extra defender.
June 29, 2021 at 9:58 am #209385Logistically Bradford should always have a bigger budget then us, it was only Swanns early days spending blitz that saw us outbid Bradford for certain players a few seasons back, McCall said as much on an ” open night meeting ” when he was here. No-one is going to slam Swann for putting the brakes on budget wise from his early days but he appears to have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous and it’s entirely his own fault for his scattergun approach when he first arrived. A Wharton style Chairmanship would have been a more sensible approach, you know, the old guy that ran us ” like a hobby ” but of course Wharton never jumped in with both feet then knicked the ground ownership when he had fu***d up. Good old days anybody?

June 29, 2021 at 10:16 am #209386I’m sure I’ll be proven wrong but of all the “best players” we’ve had over the years, I never saw anything in Alex Gillead to get excited about, a very modest winger. Good luck to him at Bradford but I don’t think we’ll miss him as much as several other players.
June 29, 2021 at 10:46 am #209388Would tend to agree.
Since we said goodbye to the likes of Madden, Wallace, Townsend, Holmes & Morris the players that have come in have combined to achieve a lower finish than the previous season each time.
That includes most of the ones we’ve released this summer including Gilliead, Eisa, McGahey & Bedeau.
It also includes a few Dom Vose types like, Dales, Olomola & Mooney.
Who’s to say we’d have done any better had they stayed?
The problem we have is the sheer volume of outgoings compared to the dearth of new arrivals. That, and knowing that at least half of those still under contract are not EFL standard.
June 29, 2021 at 2:40 pm #209403He carried the ball well and worked hard but his end product was shocking…terrible crosser of the ball from open play. Devarn Green had a better output than him stats wise last season, which says quite a lot. Would still have him here though unless we start pulling some signings out of the bag sharpish!

Well that’s a given! Just saying that he’s not the huge loss than some seemed to think.
But obviously he’s better than no one, which is who we’ve got at the moment!June 29, 2021 at 10:27 pm #209435Worked hard and comfortable on the ball but not a massive loss if we recruit well in wide areas (wishful thinking)
Not sure I ever believed he was going to Coventry or Ipswich etc…
League 2 is definitely his level and a quick look on the Bradford fans forum shows they are very underwhelmed with his incoming.Eisa much better IMO… gutted he’s gone! He’s a league 1/championship player IMO
