Kitchens of Distinction.
July 22, 2022 at 11:58 pm #241127I heard months ago wren kitchens were interested, anyone else hear that one?
Think Wren may well be over their head with costing their rapid global expansion in such a short time. What with the current inflation rate and people worldwide short of ready spending cash they may well be feeling the pinch debt wise themselves, don’t think a struggling non league side with few resources and a small fan base will be a very enticing project at this present time IMO.
July 23, 2022 at 12:40 am #241128Could literally be anyone. Who envisaged Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney buying Wrexham or WAGMI United buying Crawley? Whoever it is I just hope it gets over the line pronto as this relationship with Swann is just toxic and needs to be severed!
IMO these guys buying Wrexham may have helped to make it trendy to buy a football club, there seems to be a certain element of glamour involved .. with these rich famous young blokes buying maybe (i hope) if the SUFC goes through it turns out to be people or a person with the wish to make the Iron great again .. to get rid of swann is the main benefit though , fingers crossed it all goes to plan.
July 23, 2022 at 12:47 am #241130still quite surprised nothing leaked on twitter of SM as to who n how much.. the suspenders are killing me.
July 23, 2022 at 11:24 am #241139Big excitement in Winterton yesterday, a large Wren lorry broke down on the mini roundabout at the top of Earlsgate, I was on the 350 Fast Cat and we had to go round the roundabout on the wrong side !! People were leaving their houses to see it all unfold. Not since the Queen visited in 1958 has Earlsgate seen such scenes. UTWI

July 23, 2022 at 6:23 pm #241150I heard end of last season that Wren Kitchens were one, I also heard that Swann won’t let the movie people have it because he doesn’t think they have the funds to run it, have also heard it isn’t Wren Kitchens either but only hearsay, but have no idea who it is though the owner Malcolm Healey is a billionaire
July 23, 2022 at 6:26 pm #241151With Wrexham having film star owners I am surprised we haven’t been taken over by a Porn Site. 😄😄😅
July 23, 2022 at 6:57 pm #241152We have been delivering X-rated viewing for 4 seasons now Mick.

July 23, 2022 at 9:39 pm #241161I did see on twitter than Botham is one of the consortium who has had the bid accepted. I wouldn’t be against Simon Elliot being a part of it either, proper Scunthorpe fans who understand the club would be a refreshing change.
I think site editor Matt knows who they are but understandably won’t say due to them being under a NDA while the deal is being ratified.

July 23, 2022 at 11:50 pm #241165Can you paste a link about Botham being one of the consortium please?
July 24, 2022 at 12:36 am #241166whoever it is / they are lets hope the deal gets concluded ASAP .. and he she or they have a huge lump of cash to invest and get the Iron on the up… possibly even a new ground ???

It wasn’t even from a noted source as such it was a mere suggestion from somebody on twitter. Everybody is guessing at the moment. There maybe be truth to it, then again it could be complete horse manure.
It’s definitely a consortium because Swann said they were “footballing people” but nobody has a clue who they are. Site editor will probably have an inkling as to who it is but even if he wanted to say something he can’t because of the non disclosure agreement.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves Afar, we need players first and foremost.
July 24, 2022 at 9:33 am #241172On Twitter there are a few who claim to know this and that and say things about Peter Swann and what offers have been made etc, but they believe rightly or wrongly anything they are told if it belittles the owner, I don’t think anyone apart from the people fully involved know the complete truth what is happening but hopefully it is done soon.
Yesterday in the directors box there was a bloke stood with Lee Turnbull in the doorway who I didn’t recognise and was there last week as well, also Neil Cox was there sat in the back row as well, but whether that bloke is anything to do with the takeover I have know idea but just hope the saga ends soon.
And I know nothing, I have learned over the years not to believe any rumours about United or you will be disappointed
July 24, 2022 at 11:30 am #241185July 24, 2022 at 12:52 pm #241190When malcolm healey was mentioned some time ago it came out that he was a hull city fan so read into that what u want. Not sure hed want to buy scunny myself on that basis

July 24, 2022 at 1:02 pm #241191And he’s 78. Probably a bit too old to buy a football club!
July 24, 2022 at 1:30 pm #241193He could get his family on the board to run it. Oh…. hang on, we’ve tried that.
July 24, 2022 at 6:50 pm #241205Don’t hold your breath boys
There are some people in this world who couldn’t sell a kennel to a dog.

July 24, 2022 at 6:57 pm #241206Conversely there are some who can sell fridges to Eskimos, keep everything crossed.🤞
July 24, 2022 at 7:51 pm #241207Well it takes around 14 working days for the fit and proper persons test to be ratified by the FA so going by those dates, we may have to wait until very early August.
By that time we’ll have very little time to get players in.
July 24, 2022 at 8:31 pm #241210I wouldn’t hold your breath. Even if ratified, there’s still the potential buyer’s due diligence to get through (I.e. checking through all the club’s financials and contracts etc), heads of terms to be negotiated and the purchase agreement drawn up and agreed. Knowing what we know about the seller, there’s every chance it may not be a smooth and fast ride. Oh, and if it doesn’t go smoothly, you know who’s fault it won’t be don’t you?

July 25, 2022 at 2:27 am #241217I know Swann’s been full of shite for the most part but he said he hoped it would go through before the season starts. All those things you mention Deerey have been sorted already. Well that was the impression I got the other day.
People may think I’m nuts for believing Swann on this but his ego has took a big hit and I’m telling you now, without a shadow of a doubt he wants out.
The people who have agreed a fee for the club would have gone through thos details already I would have thought. Been in discussions for months and rejected to bids due to not covering wages in with the fee so they will know “whoever they are” know exactly what they’re buying.
Swann has been full of it for the most part but I do really think deep down he wants out. No way his ego will keep him here, he knows he fucked up and knows people see him for what he is, A somewhat dodgy failure.

In 2 weeks? I’d be surprised but who knows.
I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if there is no change in ownership before Christmas but let’s hope you’re right WG.
July 25, 2022 at 10:51 am #241228I hope a sale goes through quick too but in terms of the process it’s very early stages, as far as my understanding of buying a football club goes. Could well be wrong but I don’t think due diligence, terms and negotiating purchase agreement can start till after ratification. Don’t suppose the lawyers would be in a rush to reach completion and surely there’s a lot of detail to negotiate first? Though he does have an excellent track record of cordial relationships so yeah, probably be all sealed next week.

I was only basing that timeline on the fit and proper persons test takes 14 days by the FA and it was rumoured that the application was put in before Swann did that interview, because otherwise why come out in the first place and do it ?
July 25, 2022 at 12:39 pm #241233To get more stayaways to purchase season tickets?

‘it’s not easy’ that’s all he says about everything – the fans, the flats, the road, the players
My favourite quote was ‘don’t you dare put me in the mould of Fenty’ and then he went on to say he’s put 20mil in (which I don’t know if is true)
Seems a shame if he has and you haven’t anything to show for it in regards to the infrastructure of the club, apart from ‘chip van’ he started to go on about – is it any good?Hopefully the takeover goes through

Not sure about the “chip van” but the ice cream van was an external supplier.

Rumour has long had it that he has very little appetite for all the negatives that go with football club ownership. 🙂
