Good point well made Ferrite….I quote:
‘The Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022 restricts ground rents on newly created long residential leases for single dwellings such as a flat or house to a token one peppercorn per year, effectively restricting ground rents to zero financial value’.
There’s still the rental income or sale proceeds to benefit (I assume, from what Swanny said) the Club.

July 21, 2022 at 11:35 am #241041What are the flats going to be rented for? £100 a week min? £100 x 52 x 160 = £832k per annum. Is that roughly what he’s basing it on?

July 21, 2022 at 11:42 am #241043July 21, 2022 at 12:51 pm #241044Will be great news if true.
Unfortunately, the word “if” is doing a lot of work for me, still, in that sentence.
Still I am cautiously optimistic about 22/23. The new kits are great, there’s new sponsorship and I appreciate the hard work Lee Turnbull is doing.
The squad is thin still but I am more optimistic than I was in June that a further relegation isn’t on the cards. If there’s not too much more movement on the transfer front then realisitically we are looking at a lower mid-table finish and start to reverse the downward momentum in 23/24.
The NL is a touhg old league and crazy money is being thrown about by Hollywood Wrexham and a few others. If new ownership can revitalise the club on and off the park, then great.
July 21, 2022 at 1:46 pm #241047I don’t like the shirts but might look better with white shorts and socks like we had before.
Regarding PS, there has been a lot of rumours going around for weeks that people believe and may be totally exaggerated, so PS says things differently so people says he is talking crap when he may be telling the truth and nobody wants to believe his version, the only thing I want to see is a new owner here now and the Peter Swann era finished, he was good to start with but the last 4 seasons have been unbearable, so let’s hope it will be done soon and let us get our club back.

July 21, 2022 at 2:40 pm #241050He’s worse than Fenty I reckon at least he was consistent during the course of that interview he must have contradicted himself 10 times and it ended up a rambling at the fans and telling everyone how he put 20mil in and doesn’t want it back (although you can tell he is pretty bitter about it) said that you have a budget to challenge but then said you don’t have the attendances to challenge? Then went on a rant about why would anyone want to buy the club when all the chairman gets is grief ; but is trying to sell the club :the guy is more of a head tuck than the worst girlfriend when you are eighteen, it’s just mad.
July 21, 2022 at 2:59 pm #241052You’re spot on Rickgy. Our attendances in League 2 have dropped by over 1,000 during Swann’s tenure, comparing his first season with the most recent one. Yet we still didn’t have the smallest average attendance last season, far from it. How does he think Accrington or Cambridge or Shrewsbury or Morecambe are surviving in League One?
Regarding protests, I’d have thought if you were a prospective buyer and saw protests against the seller, you wouldn’t be put off, though you might consider reducing your offer as the owner might be more keen to sell.

July 21, 2022 at 4:30 pm #241055Accrington Stanley seem to be managing okay in L1 on an average home gate of 2,776.
Fleetwood, Cheltenham and Morecambe all average around 4,000.
But it’s the stay away fans fault we’re not up there with them. Really, Peter?

Yeah the BBC are repeating snippets from last night’s podcast, don’t get excited till he’s gone for good. Don’t hold your breath.

July 21, 2022 at 9:30 pm #241075July 21, 2022 at 9:33 pm #241076Horse, water, drink. I thank you.
July 21, 2022 at 9:51 pm #241077I’ve agreed a price as there is nobody who wants to invest
Nobody has upgraded the 34yr old ground in 40/50 years
The 72 years in the football league cannot compete in the football league
We can fund the ground on £160k per year ground rent that we cannot legally chargesee the pattern….
July 21, 2022 at 10:22 pm #241078I still think it will happen. I can understand the doubt but Swann wants out and clearly somebody else wants in.
July 22, 2022 at 12:16 am #241080still no goss or snippets on SM alluding to who and how much ???? fingers crossed a big unveiling of the new owners is coming very soon and Swanns taxi is ticking over at the side door.

July 22, 2022 at 12:56 am #241081July 22, 2022 at 1:57 am #241082It will be Jason maza and that Ian Sharp who’s a actor/director and also was born in scunthorpe. Swann said he’d been in discussions for months and that Jason Maza wrote a message on twitter with the scunny crest in it and somebody asked him if he’d bought us and he replied “not yet” and that was 2 few months back now.
They all have viable business and you would have thought they wouldn’t be short of a few quid, especially that Sharp….he not long ago directed a film for Disney. I can remember reading it on twitter.
July 22, 2022 at 8:24 am #241084July 22, 2022 at 8:30 am #241085Might be a good thing given they appear to have no experience whatsoever of managing a football club of our size. Don’t we need someone who knows what they’re doing from the off? Pretty sure Swann said these people have football world connections and experience? I don’t think he makes up every little thing.

July 22, 2022 at 10:33 am #241094SST-I have no intention to buy a season ticket whilst Swann is still involved in any way.Do you think it is safe to buy one now?
July 22, 2022 at 11:13 am #241095I think you know the answer to that question

July 22, 2022 at 11:18 am #241096Could literally be anyone. Who envisaged Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney buying Wrexham or WAGMI United buying Crawley? Whoever it is I just hope it gets over the line pronto as this relationship with Swann is just toxic and needs to be severed!

FFS you clearly like many others including myself have a serious issue with Swann being in charge, when he’s gone buy one, if he stays don’t, it’s not rocket science use your loaf. I will be attending home games on my own terms this season but it won’t be every game and it certainly won’t be the first home game with a 17.20 k.o.The TV people can get stuffed changing bloody times round to suit them, it’s the peoples game not there’s, 1500 k.o or piss off. Thank you.

July 22, 2022 at 1:28 pm #241113It isn’t.
Spill the beans….clearly you know more than me !
July 22, 2022 at 1:36 pm #241114I can see how a changed kick off time is a bit annoying IA …. but for me, even travelling from Leeds, it’s only a minor issue. It certainly wouldn’t be enough to stop me coming. And from BT sports point of view … they are hardly likely to want to shell out for games and pour a decent amount of cash into our League if a large slice of their potential audience are doing other things. I’d rather have some TV interest and the cash with occasional and quite rare disruption than no TV interest or cash.

July 22, 2022 at 2:19 pm #241117Knowing our recent luck it’ll be Fenty.
he would spend twenty years trying to build you a new stadium and then when realise he can’t cut it and ask for his benign loans to be repaid so he ends up making some cash over his tenure…. There are so many similaritys between Fenty and Swann but that interview made me think Swann is on a different level. I think the most obvious thing in common between them two is they were/are /never will be actual fans of the clubs, I hope you get taken over and the new custodians are actually fans of Scunthorpe Utd.

July 22, 2022 at 2:34 pm #241119He kept go on and on how you ‘top out’ at 4000 fans as well.
Well no probably not, I would love to see someone take over and the gates shoot up (like it has without Fenty and his negativity, saying ‘well we have a ceiling and we have to live within our means’)
He didn’t once say thank you to the fans in that interview, and literally our lady CEO who is lovely is saying that to the fans and staff all the time – it’s surprising how far it goes.
He seems to love the flats though, but I didn’t understand his maths ;it was pretty scrambled like the whole interview.
