You absolute beauty, just formalities to carry out now. Agreed price for everything, land and stadium. Brilliant news.

So many clubs get to this point then the deal collapses.

Let’s get excited when the deal is done.Allow yourself to be even slightly excited. The funds are obviously there as Swann wouldn’t have agreed the price otherwise.
Have faith !
July 20, 2022 at 8:23 pm #240987Sounds promising and shows that he isn’t planning on staying around, just have to hope it goes okay.

July 20, 2022 at 9:49 pm #241001Just can’t believe it until it happens.
Was a complete disaster of an interview by Swann earlier- I don’t know what to believe anymore. There were So many contradictions and riddles.

July 20, 2022 at 9:58 pm #241005One of the things that pissed me off the most was that he kept highlighting the fact we don’t have enough supporters to be competitive in league one and might even struggle in league two on sub 3k gates.
We have not averaged under 3k since 1997- since then we have only averaged under 3,500 only once. This is not the norm Peter you delusional moron. You have alienated nearly 1,000 supporters through rapid budget slashing, a complete lack of competence, and abysmal PR.
Crowds between 3.5k- 4K should be able to sustainably support a club in the 4th division long term- which it has done for the best part of 72 years.

July 20, 2022 at 10:11 pm #241006Thought Swann spoke very well. He reaffirmed the club will be left on a sound footing financially. The league position is another point ,that is different to the financial position. He is leaving because the majority want him to go. His promise to do this ,the money the club has given to charities over the years show he has tried and what sort of man he is, but unfortunately he has failed on the pitch. If we had hit the Championship ( rather than Bolton!!) things could have been different, but we didn’t and his popularity was impacted by the fall down the leagues ,unfortunately.

July 20, 2022 at 10:12 pm #241007July 20, 2022 at 10:22 pm #241008If it’s true I will buy a season ticket immediately
July 20, 2022 at 10:29 pm #241009Cliff, Swannys statements are a mirror image of what Fenty told us , yet he doesn’t understand the falling attendances and lack of support is due to his own failures. Fenty also told us there were no investors and dismissed anyone who was willing as tyre kickers. He said the lack of interest and attendances was holding the club back . We couldn’t possibly sell more than 3000 season tickets according to him.
A year after Fenty has gone we’ve sold 5600 season tickets for div 2 football!
The above video is very interesting and produced from a neutral .
I feel for you all, I can’t see Swann relinquishing control and giving you your stadium back it seems to be all smoke and mirrors , he’s lied through his teeth from the start. He’s only in it as Fenty was for self gain.
Obviously we’re rivals but I often work all over Lincolnshire and have friends who are Scunthorpe and Lincoln fans .
What has been done to my club and yours by unscrupulous chairmen and the likes of Bury , Darlington , Stockport, Chesterfield, Notts county and even Derby ,to name but a few should not be allowed to happen .
Despite the rivalry there are some things that football fans should stick together on .
Good look in the national league , I fear you will need it , it’s a horrible league to get out of .

July 20, 2022 at 10:29 pm #241010Swann has taken a lot of stick over the last few years, and rightly so.
That said, based on what he said tonight, he will be leaving the club in a good position financially.
Let’s hope that the deal goes through as quickly as possible and that the new owners deliver immediately.
A fresh start for all.

July 20, 2022 at 10:49 pm #241014You lot believe what you want but nothing has changed IMO, he is still the owner and I’m not convinced about the negotiations regarding a sale of the club.

July 20, 2022 at 10:52 pm #241016Fenty said that as well ! Despite taking us from the championship to the national league twice his main defence was at least I’ve left the club in a stable financial position !
You couldn’t make it up . If you get your fresh start like we have at least you’ll have hope and that will probably put an extra thousand through the gates and extra revenue .July 20, 2022 at 10:55 pm #241017Usual bollocks from the absent landlord.

July 20, 2022 at 11:02 pm #241018Why come out of hiding if everything with the sale is progressing well?
Why make so many references to being prepared to carry on if a deal is agreed?
still hard to believe a word that comes out of his mouth, especially when defending his financial management and refusing to risk the existence of the club after all his spending and subsequent interest payments to Coolsilk.4 users thanked author for this post.
July 20, 2022 at 11:23 pm #241019I don’t believe a word, very well rehearsed.
The funding from the not yet built flats, pigs might fly.
Got too build sell/rent first.
Is he selling the lot to ONGO?2 users thanked author for this post.
July 20, 2022 at 11:27 pm #241020Personal we should not give this man air space. Think he as just stoked the fire on the protest.
He should of only come on to say it’s sold.5 users thanked author for this post.
July 21, 2022 at 12:12 am #241021I Don’t believe him!!
I Don’t believe a single word he says!! Stop interviewing this man until the clubs sold and he has his parting words to share!
Disgusting how many times he had to get in ‘I’m not wanted here’
There’s a reason for that you ………………… fill in the blanks yourself!!4 users thanked author for this post.
July 21, 2022 at 12:17 am #241022PS
Last season our average attendance was 4th bottom of league 2 yet we finish bottom of the league… even though we had YOU!! THE SAVIOUR of SUFC in charge Peter. And Sutton United had an average attendance just 200 more fans per home game than us yet they went to Wembley in the PJ Trophy and finished inside the top 10 in league 2.
Doesn’t add up to me
July 21, 2022 at 12:37 am #241023I know he waffled a lot of bullshit but I actually believe him over this. Swann’s not that crazy to claim he’s agreed a fee for the club and every that goes with it and the do a complete U-Turn, surely ?. The one part I believed over everything else was the fact he wants out and for that reason alone I think it will get done.
I bloody hope so anyway.
July 21, 2022 at 1:05 am #241026this saga is not over until the cash is in the bank and Swann has left the building and is out of the club totally .. too many buy outs / takeovers etc have failed at the 11th hour and this is not different .. yes great news and im over the moon to coin a phrase ..but thats WHEN ITS ACTUALLY happened. until then fingers crossed ..in fact cross everything including yer ears.
IT WILL BE VERY INTERESTING TO FIND OUT THE PRICE ..

July 21, 2022 at 6:53 am #241029Am I missing something?
160 flats at £1k pa = £160k pa for The Iron.
This is so huge a sum that it will leave the club set up for immeasurable future success.
Did I mishear? Are my ageing brain cells letting me down? (Are we forgetting inflation?)
It would pay the annual salary of a single decent centre back. Great. But hardly game-changing, is it?July 21, 2022 at 7:01 am #241030I just cannot bring myself to believe a single word he says, he has lied about so many things in the past why should we believe him now???
What really boils my piss is the amount of times he whinges about attendances yet he has done NOTHING, not ONE thing during his tenure to entice old fans back or new fans in, guess what Peter, you do nothing, you get nothing!

July 21, 2022 at 10:18 am #241036Scunthorpe United average home attendance 2011/12: 4,339
