Maybe no debts but do we have any assets?
Latest accounts show total assets worth £90,725.
September 13, 2022 at 3:29 pm #244872Correct.
September 13, 2022 at 3:47 pm #244874£56k tangible – hard to evaluate intangibles and even harder to sell (probably branding or something similar). However that dropped from £191k to £33k up to June 2021. Liabilities have reduced – probably written off loans – but we’re still showing a liability of (£2.3m) with fixed assets of £56k so to be solvent we need to ensure money is coming in through gate receipts. I’m struggling as to where he gets his valuation from without seeing what other assets are included in the sale (Coolsilk stuff)

September 13, 2022 at 4:47 pm #244880Surely only the accounting convention precluding valuation of internally developed intellectual property is preventing the innovative Thankhand (TM) from being valued at millions in the club accounts?

Unless Peter was only using the club to promote yet another stunningly successful business idea…

September 13, 2022 at 4:54 pm #244881Don’t know what he is including whether they are in the sale, you would hope the ground and all those items are in but who can tell what Swann is up to.
One telling statement (in the accounts) was that in order to remain solvent the Coolsilk directors agreed to keep putting money in – so flip that and it would suggest we won’t be solvent without their cash input which he is actively now pursuing?
September 13, 2022 at 10:04 pm #244901Southyorks iron WTF does that all mean
September 13, 2022 at 11:24 pm #244906Thankhand was a spectacularly poor idea, as evidenced by its lack of success.
It was particularly embarrassing that Swann associated the club with it.
If there was any value to it, and the rights were owned by the club, its value wouldn’t be reflected in the accounts, as you can only include the value of intangible assets (including trademarks, copyright etc,) if you’ve paid for them.
Equally, I suspect that any upside would be to Swann’s benefit, rather than the club’s, and that despite using the club website to promote the idea, there was little chance that the club would benefit.
I was being sarcastic in reference to earlier comments about the lack of club assets, at the same time as remembering one of our great leader’s scintillating business ideas. Has anyone actually told him what a “Spyglass” is, and so why his James Bond-themed bar in Blackpool is so ridiculously irrelevantly named??

September 14, 2022 at 10:10 am #244916Thankhand still makes me laugh out loud, genuinely hilarious.
Presumably the main value in any sale of the club lies in its membership of a league and, potentially, the club’s land/ground/other fixed assets.

September 14, 2022 at 12:00 pm #244921Surprised the orange one didn’t become the new club badge, replete with motto!
September 14, 2022 at 12:10 pm #244923Speaking of his bar, the recent reviews look great! X-)
September 14, 2022 at 12:58 pm #244925Runs his bar like he runs football clubs?
September 14, 2022 at 1:50 pm #244927Didn’t Swann say, on taking over the club, that he wouldn’t leave it in a worse position than when he assumed control of it? Hollow words?

September 14, 2022 at 1:50 pm #244928One saying ‘Swann Out!’ and derogatory reference to ‘the owners’ gives the game away regarding some of the worst reviews

What he said was they would leave the club in a financially better state than how they found it !
Said it at his first Fans Forum, where you detected what was coming.2 users thanked author for this post.
September 14, 2022 at 8:48 pm #244953At the moment the club is in a better financial state than how they they found it. There for all to see in the club account’s.
September 14, 2022 at 8:58 pm #244954At the moment or at the minute? You don’t appear to understand the difference, lol.
September 14, 2022 at 9:17 pm #244955Have you compared the accounts or is that just based on the reduced debt?
September 14, 2022 at 10:09 pm #244956In the most recent accounts the club has negative total equity of £2.3m, whereas in the accounts to June 2013 total equity was positive at £2.8m.
I’m struggling to see how that’s a better financial position, but then Peter is cleverer than all of us, as evidenced by his recent refusal to answer questions during the Humberside interview on the basis that his interviewer wouldn’t be capable of understanding, so doubtless he’s right..

September 15, 2022 at 11:52 am #244968I am not sure that he would have let that happen, but he was on the board when Broome was around, and that leaves a sour taste in my mouth, unless he was actually concerned about that.

September 15, 2022 at 12:18 pm #244970Of course he wouldn’t have let it happen he just said it for a laugh, lol.
September 15, 2022 at 12:38 pm #244973Really feel for you in this terrible situation having been through something very similar with my club. It’s bad enough facing admin but it really is worst case scenario if that is coupled with no ground of your own when trying to pick up the pieces.
When our owner pulled the plug we at Darlo had no players, no stadium and very few other assets but we’re now fan owned and looking at finally building our own ground although there’s still a long way to go.
Hopefully you find a white knight from somewhere that pulls this back from the brink before you are hurled over a cliff. Sad to see yet another club facing these awful times and facing such an uncertain future.

September 15, 2022 at 1:20 pm #244974Just read Aidan McCartney item in the Telegraph.
What a pathetic answer from the clubs destroyer. Says people want him out but expect him to pay the bills !
Of course I do, you Mr Swann wanted to be ‘Mr Big’, you wanted to own the club, be the big I am. You have taken the club off the supporters and disengaged from those fans and you never say why.
So yes, until you sell the club unless it goes out of existence first, I do expect you to pay the bills. You are responsible !
