February 6, 2023 at 7:39 pm #255237the experience we need, and with Elliott too just a centre half to go

February 6, 2023 at 7:43 pm #255239Bit of a dwarf imo.
February 6, 2023 at 7:45 pm #255240Fair play to the chairman we needed both these type of players in and he’s delivered. 👏👏👏

February 6, 2023 at 7:48 pm #255241Have we signed a 6ft 8inch keeper before.
February 6, 2023 at 7:52 pm #255243Looks a good addition and definitely what we’ve needed for a while (experience).
We certainly can’t ask for any more from the chairman right now, he’s absolutely going for it.4 users thanked author for this post.

February 6, 2023 at 8:27 pm #255248Chap is exactly what the doctor ordered. An excellent chap to have around the club, mentoring Foster in the process.

February 7, 2023 at 12:44 am #255254Perfect signing, just what we needed. All we need now is a competent CB with pace to replace Taft and we’ll be a lot better.
February 7, 2023 at 3:21 am #255255Woke up to some great news with the 7th n 8th new signings of Elliot n Chapman ..
agree with WG .. a decent quicker CB now and be the cherry on the cream on the cake !!
Hoping it all gels and positive performances n results follow… after months / years of depression and negativity the buzz is back…and Mr Hilton is doing what it says on the tin.

February 7, 2023 at 8:24 am #255257What is concerning me is that the chairman is signing these players, the manager looks to have no say in it.
February 7, 2023 at 8:41 am #255258Im sure this issue will be clarified .. doubt Mr Hilton is choosing the players on his own back.

What gives you this idea, have you read something?

Quite agree cass, I always ask for evidence when these sort of comments get thrown into the mix, the response is usually not forthcoming.
February 7, 2023 at 9:34 am #255262A very good signing. Heard from someone who knows him. Says he is a good lad, hard working and good in the dressing room. Will be a massive help for Owen Foster, he can have a bit of a breather having done so well we have to protect our valuable asset.
Suspect Mr Dean may have had more input than the timeline suggests. My opinion is that he was on the ball at least a couple of weeks earlier than the paperwork was signed.
February 7, 2023 at 9:37 am #255263Two great signings IMO ..now
Please IF YOUR READING Mr Hilton sign a rock solid CB who is quick .. at the mo that area on the pitch is like a Blackpool donkey in the Grand National.
February 7, 2023 at 10:24 am #255270Interesting, SF.
Must wonder how much input from LT.As for a CB – we really do need cover, even if a solid GK brings the best out of Taft. Everything needed in place except CB.
Anyone seeing Bunker as a CB?February 7, 2023 at 12:01 pm #255276Said that he can play there but sees himself as a MF. Less competition at CB if he wants to play. Some of our MFs will have to go out on loan if they are to get games surely, we had 10 on show on Friday and that didn’t include Shields, Hallam or Gallimore or a keeper on the bench.
February 7, 2023 at 12:12 pm #255279Jai Rowe can play CB and he’s quick.
February 7, 2023 at 12:16 pm #255281Not hugely struck with him up against big forwards.
February 7, 2023 at 2:11 pm #255284competent
I did include the word ” competent ” when I suggested that we sign a CB with pace. We don’t need players who can simply play there, we need a natural CB who’s good and solid.

Elliott’s article in the ST would suggest otherwise:-
“The gaffer has watched me for a while. I saw his success at Peterborough Sports and I think he’s got what it takes to turn it around. I’ve had a really good chat with him. I’m looking forward to working with him and getting started.”February 8, 2023 at 1:32 pm #255346I’m going to play ironmaster1 at his own game, I believe his post regarding players being signed by the Chairman and the manager looks to have no say in it, to be pure conjecture based on zero evidence. Happy to be proved wrong.

I’d sooner replace Boyce.. so slow it’s not even funny and every pass is to the opposition or the fans!
