A company’s articles of association usually say that the board may (but does not have to) appoint someone to act as the chairperson of the company generally, but that a person must chair each meeting of the board.
Yes, it’s usually the case. In the absence of a Chair (eg. current one has stepped down) the attendees can nominate one to Chair the meeting. The ex-Chair is unlikely to be at the meeting but could be, unless they’ve resigned from the board.
What are you saying Renee? In effect, little has changed?
Isn’t Lee Turnbull our chairman?
Not according to the Companies House record:

Looking at the names on that list – I’ve just read this article:

Acting chairman NI, He is the Chief operating officer.
Not according to Companies House he isn’t. Unless, the change hasn’t been filed yet? Something you would normally action within a few days through webfiling and takes a day or two to be approved. What’s the hold up?
I bow to your better knowledge on this Deerey.
Would Turnbull actually need to be appointed as a director to be COO though?
Yes, Renee.
There were those in S9 who referred to Dennis Senior as ‘a gangster’.

Cryogenics – a future Chairman on ice?

A COO doesn’t have to be a Director. But an acting Chair has to be on the Board. So is he actually acting Chair or not?
Maybe someone meeting up with Lee at the pub in Leyton could ask him to clarify if he’s a Director or not? If he’s not please ask him how he can be the acting Chair of the Board. It’s not being tricky but does have implications.
