“Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the return of Simon Elliott to the Board of Directors.”
Fantastic, positive news. Welcome back Simon and well done Mr Chairman.
Welcome aboard, Simon, and let’s hope its not a sinking ship. Note that the role is specifically non-executive.
Can he play upfront?
Excellent news.We now have someone who adds that precious ingredient of credibility to the board.
A chink of light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Brilliant news.
The boardroom has lost all vision and direction (other than down), something had to give.
Simon can hopefully become the bridge between boardroom level and supporters and go some way to bringing an identity back to the club.
Will be interesting to hear what he had to say at tonight’s shareholder meeting, I’m sure some feedback will filter through on here tomorrow.
Interesting it’s states he’s in a non-executive role.
Does that mean he’s a glorified liaison officer then to bridge the gap between boardroom and fans ?
Is it that he’s invited into the inner sanctum of the club but doesn’t really have any say when it comes to decision making ?.
If that is indeed the case, doesn’t he hold the exact same position as a member of a supporters group would hold if they were invited onto the board ?
Anyway, I suppose it can only be seen as a positive.
Non-executive directors are usually outside appointments to provide guidance on the overall management of the company. They’re not employees & they don’t tend to get involved in the day-to-day running.
A fine appointment but I still believe that it’s too little, too late. I hope I’m wrong.
He has a colossal job to do and I sincerely hope he can arrest the decline. 8 years of continuous poor recruitment, attitude by the board to fans over their concerns about the club.
And here we are another manager who should have been here 1 or 2 months earlier having to work with some players that would struggle in local league football. Now Mr Hill has to battle away until the January window when he has to be given the chance to recruit players who are interested. Simon, will be able to liase over this and correct the disjointed plan ( if we actually had one in the first place ).
Again, good luck.
