January 23, 2024 at 4:58 pm #279700How about a FWHST?
A Fair Weather Half Season Ticket for those whom don’t like the cold, dark, wet winter Saturday afternoons.
First 7 home games of season
Plus
Last 7 home games of season.
Do a bit of ‘dizzy’ (discount) to make it VFM.January 23, 2024 at 5:14 pm #279701How about a FWHST?

January 23, 2024 at 5:52 pm #279702FWHST would be for 14 (60%) of the 23 games… obviously a tad more than a half season.
You could do 12 if you wanted to get closer to the actual half season figure – 6 fixtures up to end of Oct and 6 fixtures from beginning of March.
January 23, 2024 at 5:56 pm #279703Penny? I thought this was another appeal, taxing thought to donate to the Iron

January 23, 2024 at 9:16 pm #279729Away NLN games that don’t clash with PL games.
£180 for a commercial premise to show the game.
Iron Bar holds 200.
£10 entry = £2,000
£20 beer (a guess) = £4,000
£10 food = £2,000Income = £8,000
Iron Bar = 200
Exec Lounge = 120
Restaurant = 150470 potential.
That could generate £18,800 (using the assumed expenditure above).Money in to our club rather than the oppositions.
January 23, 2024 at 10:16 pm #2797347 days a week business… I’ve heard that touted many times.
Here’s another idea.
Young Iron Day Care Nursery.
Morning 7:30 – 12:30… £35
Afternoon 13:00 – 18:00… £35
Short Day 8:30 – 16:30… £50
Full Day 7:30 – 18:00… £60Obviously you’d need trained, qualified staff and the equipment and environment to deliver.
You’d not be making, selling or repairing anything, no stock to check & purchase, no wastage to throw out, no shrinkage from shop lifters etc.
Day nurseries are obviously always going to be needed. Demand for places will continue to rise in the coming years.
It’d generate a guaranteed Mon to Friday income stream.
January 24, 2024 at 6:41 am #279748Open the bars earlier (any imposed restrictions?) on match-days.
The Licensing Act 2003 was partly to try and eliminate ‘binge drinking’ from our previous ‘stop watch’ drinking culture.
Get them on our premises eating and drinking our food rather than them spending their money in the many other local outlets.
If they are determined to have a ‘good sesh’ then they’ll do so before entering our establishment anyhow.
Pre-Match Prep:
Friday nights at the Iron Bar. It could feature prize bingo, racing nights, pub quiz, karaoke, Scunny’s Got Talent, local club type bands, young bands whom might want to ‘rehearse’ in front of a live audience, open mics, comedy nights.
The ‘entertainment’ can be rotated weekly and could feature a couple of different events each week?
I.e.
bingo & pub quiz
Open mic & comedy clubJust some thoughts on how we can be more of a community club.
January 24, 2024 at 7:37 am #279751Open Mic? Grrrrr! One arsehole gets paid while others work, I despise them, as bad as pubs and restaurants that expect people to play for free. Imagine saying to a chef, “come and cook at my place, it’ll get your name out”
January 24, 2024 at 8:58 am #279755Set up our own online weekly lottery?
January 24, 2024 at 9:15 am #279756I thought there was already a nursery at the back of the Donny Rd End?
January 26, 2024 at 11:07 pm #279908Legends game.
I read a few weeks ago that on average, we take about £50k in gate receipts for a game?
Once the seasons finished, how about a Legends fundraiser the week after the concluding league / play off game?
Iron Claret Legends v Iron Blue Legends
12 claret legends and 12 blue legends.
6 legends play the first half for each team and the second set of 6 legends play the second half for each team.10 fans play for the clarets and 10 fans play for the blues.
The first set of 5 fans play the first half for each team, the second set of 5 fans plays the second half for each team.Claret team = 6 legends & 5 fans
Blue team = 6 legends & 5 fansFor £500, twenty fans get to pull on the claret & blue of Scunthorpe United FC, get changed in the changing rooms with their heroes of yesteryear and to actually play 45 minutes in a game with and against their idols!
20 x £500 = £10,000
2,000 (attendance)(a guess) x £15 = £30,000
Program, food, drinks = £20k (guess)
Sponsorship (annual Legends Trophy) = £5k (another guess)Total revenue = £65k
If match day staff volunteered their labour, then this minimises the costs and maximises the funds raised.
Just an idea. It might be a load of tosh or it could be a good opportunity?
LT would be a perfect match-day commentator over the PA.

Legends Shirt Signing
Perhaps held in the Exec Bar a couple of hours before kick off.
A 30 minute to an hour shirt signing session where fans can bring their favourite SUFC shirt and have one, more or all of their heroes playing that day sign their shirt.£50 x 100 (a guess) = £5K
20 Legends signatures for £50 = £2.50 per signature. Bargain!

72 Fans get to enjoy the experience and banter coupled with anecdotes from Club Legends. And then a few beers in the 19th !Cost: match fee (if course won’t donate for free) plus £100 per fan.

Every home game, one Fan gets to experience match day up close and personal as if he’s a player.
Report at the same time as the players.
Pre-match meal.
Change in to SUFC kit in the dressing room with the players.
Take part in or be around the warm up (where applicable… not including technical drills)
Pre-game managers talk / instructions.
Run / walk out with players.
Seat on the bench for the game.
Dressing room for half time managers debrief and instructions.
Back out with players – seat on bench.
Managers post-match debrief in changing room.
Change back in to civvies.
Post match meal in restaurant.Cost: £1,000
Season income = £23,000 plus Cup games.
Some might say that this is too ‘intrusive’ and would be a hindrance on match days.
Ranting & raving and ‘information’ can be heard being transmitted from the dug outs in every game – what we never see or hear is the private discussions in the changing room.A pre-event meeting between the Fan and the Club Secretary could be used to discuss the day and a code of conduct and other guidelines to be reviewed and agreed to.
What an experience!
The closest you’ll ever get to ‘living the dream’January 27, 2024 at 9:22 am #279924Players Payback
Some might say that it’s all expense for the Fans and ask “what contribution (other than playing) have the players made to help out the Club?”
It’s a nice job, good conditions, good pay, good work/home balance… you often hear it said “I’d play for nothing”
What a great idea!
How about the players forfeit their wages Easter week.
It wouldn’t get more symbolic than that!
Jesus resurrected.
SUFC resurrected.24 x £1,000 = £24k
24 (I’ve no idea of the actual size of the squad) x £1,000 (no idea of the average wage either).
Breathe LIFE in to the Club and keep yourself in a job you LOVE next season.

January 27, 2024 at 9:39 am #279927Have the Iron got a walking football team? Apparently there is a lot of money to be made by letting a load of old gits dodder all over the pitch, and it can get competitive.
Just a thought. UTBI

Walking 7 a side Tournament
16 teams
4 leagues of 4 teams
Top team from each league go through to semi-final
10 members per team
£10 entry per player
£10 x 10 x 16 = £1,600
Run it monthly sept to JuneWinners name goes on the trophy which they bring to defend at the next tournament.
10 x £1,600 = £16k
