Let me start by saying that I was left crying inside by losing after leading 3 – 0.
The defending was stretched throughout the whole game and although there was some improvement with Ntlhe in LB spot – it was always on that we would concede a hatful.
It was horrific to watch our lead destroyed but:
Fans on here told us that Hill teams both can’t and don’t attack. Wrong.
Told that we had to get rid of Nuttall. Wrong again.
Told our CM is useless. Not only wrong but it is hugely improved.
Told that the Woking performance was our new norm. Wrong again.
Our team lacks movement – not what I saw yesterday. What I did see was a developing team which is getting a great deal right. (When could we ever say that last season?)
We played a top side, harried ’em, took a deserved three goal lead and then our defensive weaknesses – mainly on the left – let us down.
This is not a team to be dumped but one which needs major improvement in just one area to be able to compete properly.Yes, I know that we should have started the season with a full squad and also that two or three injuries could wreck the project – but aren’t there signings coming in in the next ten days?
Brought my mate along who knows his football and had never been to GP. As a neutral, he was sincerely impressed by what we had to offer and echoed everything I have written above.
Should we be panicking? – Possibly, but not before we see who these EFL players coming in are going to be. So all panic should be put on hold.

August 21, 2022 at 8:24 am #243130We are in the bottom 4 of the National League. Won 1 lost 3.
Scored 7 conceded 10, most down our left flank and the number of fullbacks having scored against us tells a story.
Keefy Weefy Hillock seems incapable of getting a team to defend no matter which players he selects.
That says the work on the training pitch is lacking, and if we supporters cannot be inspired by his superlative words of wisdom how can anybody in the dressing room?
The only balanced view I can form is that Hillock is as big a tosser as Ernest.

August 21, 2022 at 8:55 am #243135Nobody’s arguing that we don’t have a major lack of defenders.
We have scored seven in four games – something must be right.
2 decent defenders can radically change this squad.1 user thanked author for this post.

National League North.
You heard it here first.😉August 21, 2022 at 9:08 am #243140Only if we fail to complete the squad build.

August 21, 2022 at 9:43 am #243147Something is so very wrong within the club, You can blame Swann (rightly so)
But it’s not only Swann IMO the only person that is doing his job is Lee! He is bending over backwards to get the club moving forward.Unfortunately I think he has very little to do with the playing and coaching staff as that appears to be all Hill, and again unfortunately Hill is not capable of getting us out of the shit show it has become with a win rate of
7% winning three games out of 39, so in nearly a full season his team would have around 20 points.I know at the beginning it wasn’t his players but he was allowed to bring in players in January and again in the summer, so by now we should be seeing a improvement in results but things just seem to lurch from one disastrous display to an even worse one,
Yesterday even though we were 3-0 up we were still getting outplayed and at no point did you think we will win this game, once they scored it was only a matter of time and the second half nothing can be said as it was just embarrassing.
I know Solihull were and are a very good side but just how far ahead of us they are in terms of ability, tactically and the shear will to win no matter what was unbelievable, so IMO Hill as to GO not after ten games as this will just compound the matter but now wether he is sacked or leaves for another club.

August 21, 2022 at 10:51 am #243152‘harried ’em, took a deserved three goal lead’. You must have been watching a different game then because no one around me expected 2 goals let alone 3 the way we were playing. We got a few lucky breaks due to a few defensive blunders of theirs. Those 3 opportunities were well crafted and taken but we were not harrying them at all. Closing them down as we should have been down for 90mins, yes. We didn’t ‘deserve’ a 3-0 lead IMO. And they missed 2 or 3 good chances that on a different day their players would have buried. I don’t think the view you’ve offered is balanced at all. I think it’s lobbying for Hill to be given 10 games. Whether that’s right or wrong, I don’t know, but let’s not kid ourselves we played okay yesterday for more than 30mins. I could understand someone being fairly ‘impressed’ for the first 30mins but what about the 60min shambles that followed?

Or perhaps it’s that National League defenders aren’t as good as those in L2?

August 21, 2022 at 11:48 am #243164Came down fron the north east yesterday more in Hope than expectation but even I was shocked at what I saw
The Positives :- Great fan support for the team ( that totally do not deserve the loyalty) and good sarcasm when the worst happened.
The team came over to the fans at the end showing the only bottle in the entire 90 mins.
The pies were nice and good value and the match programme is back.
Nutall shows great improvement.
We should do better next year in the NLN.The negatives:-
The defending or lack thereof – complete comedy and Solihull should have scored at least 6 .All the praise heaped on them needs to be taken with a pinch of salt when the quality of the opposition is taken into account
The substitutions? – is Hill a plant ( both literally and intellectually)or just a henchman for the much more evil Swann? There can be no other explanation that this is a deliberate attempt to drive us into administration.
Every fan I talked could see what was coming and what needed to be done at half time but somehow we became an even worse ‘team’ in the second half. We will not have a ghost of a chance until we get rid of the manager and that will only happen when Swann is no longer around2 users thanked author for this post.
August 21, 2022 at 11:54 am #243166Agree with all the above, apart from Hill being a plant / henchman.
August 21, 2022 at 12:51 pm #243174Difficult conundrum for turnbull. Does he back hillbuild to use up more of the empty pot, to scrape the barrel and come up with a waif and stray looking for a seasons work. The players they have identified as targets must be looking at the managers record here and thinking whatever bullshit he has told me won’t happen because he is already walking the tightrope.. Or is still the old boys pat on the back, great 30 minutes keef,I see it’s coming together, keep going adding to your record, soon it will be unbeatable.

August 21, 2022 at 2:49 pm #243184Is Lee in charge of Keith and the player budget?
1 user thanked author for this post.
August 21, 2022 at 2:59 pm #243190I guess he has to go to the board of directors with keefs requests for any signings. I don’t know if he has control over the budget
August 21, 2022 at 3:39 pm #243200Hope he goes to the board of directors and requests relieving Hill of his duties and taking the roll himself as well as being acting chairman, if anyone could get the players on board it would be him, comes across as being in the same mould as Adkins.
August 21, 2022 at 3:57 pm #243202I’m struggling to find the logic behind people still backing Hill to turn this around. What is this based on? Certainly not on his performance with us to date with his 3 wins in 37. People still mentioning Rochdale…let’s not forget they sacked him too.
Cox was arguably our worst ever manager, but Hill managed to take his team, bring in his own players in January and make it much worse. Then completely downed tools and threw our youngsters under the bus.
He’s now brought in even more of his own players and we currently sit in the relegation zone of the National League. But hey, sign two more players and everything will be alright!

August 21, 2022 at 4:28 pm #243205Does logic even apply to the Iron whilst the current owner remains ?

Why not stick a broom up his backside and he can clean Glanford Park while he is at it?

Topics: 100The next 7 games takes us to the end of September.
How many of those games would you say are definite wins for SUFC?
I’d say 2 – Halifax at home and hopefully Altrincham away (fingers crossed on that one).
Other than that…August 21, 2022 at 5:41 pm #243221That will depend on the type, if any, of recruitment we do for the squad. It’s been blatantly obvious since pre season that the numbers aren’t enough and if this doesn’t change then the Iron will continue to be inconsistent, particularly at home and therefore struggle.
August 21, 2022 at 7:17 pm #243239Put simply – our squad is incomplete.
August 21, 2022 at 10:25 pm #243247I think your predictive text was wrong les, did you mean incompetant?
1 user thanked author for this post.
August 21, 2022 at 10:30 pm #243248Only problem is now, it’s not only incomplete, it’s inept due to us carrying 2 perma crocks in Nthle and Hallam. We haven’t got the money to pay either of them off so we’re stuck with them and in Nthle it will hurt us the most as now because Hill signed him we’re without a LB we can depend upon as he’s forever breaking down.
Realistically we need another LB, CB, Wide attacker and a striker. If, and this is a big IF, we get those in we may be ok but still don’t really rate Hill in all honesty.
Do I listen to Hill post and pre match and think “he’s the man to take us forward”…no I don’t

August 22, 2022 at 1:29 am #243253with regard to your last sentence WG … Hills warblings both pre and post match are absolute bollocks.. he must have an excuse book the size of War n Peace , juggling negative phrases , twisting facts must be part of this philosophy hes so hell bent on sticking too.
As previously commented hes got to sign some more players and a max of another 5 or 6 games for hes gone bye bye ..unless Rochdale dont snap him up first that is ??????August 22, 2022 at 8:43 am #243263Blimey WG, it’s not that long you were bigging up Hill even before he arrived, and were short with anyone who didn’t quite see it.
August 22, 2022 at 10:15 am #243274To be fair to WG he wasn’t the only one.
That’s the trouble with changing managers mid-term. You’ve only got a choice of those who are available.
And they’re available for a reason!

In fairness he was realistically the best we could get at the time and has a proven record in league 2.
How things have turned out shouldn’t be a surprise though, we are a poison chalice and seem to ruin everything we touch.

August 22, 2022 at 12:38 pm #243296Why was Hill available NI? His last job at Tranmere 50% win record an average of 1.75 points per game, why wouldn’t we want him, f ing shite now mind you.

August 22, 2022 at 12:45 pm #243301Hills lost his zest and just here for the cash … zero history with or love for the club and its fans (unlike LT) , looking for the sack and a pay off , hes Swans puppet and his route to admin.. im betting ther both shitting in the same pot and hes in for a cut when the club folds.. its in the small print .
btw i also welcomed Hill when he arrived and thought it was a good signing .. WELL I WAS very WRONG plain n simple.. USELESS in his selections and talks utter crap when interviewed… Cox was bad and this fella is just the same.
5 or 6 more fixtures n hes gotta go if no signings and improvements.
