Let’s not get too giddy until we know the details of any deal once it is done.
It’s going to take a lot of money to stop our slide.
It’s going to take a hell of a lot more to turn things around and start the slow climb back up the mountain.
That’s without improving the club infrastructure, stadium and academy facilities.
From what I’ve read, it looks as if Mr Hilton doesn’t have sufficient wealth to take SUFC back to the EFL.
    🤔🤷‍♂️🤔

Getting back to the EFL is a long way off, we are going down this season we just have to accept that. For me I am more interested in somebody coming in to steady the ship, make us sustainable again, improve the relationship between the club and supporters and putting a competitive team on the pitch. Once all that is sorted we might be able to think about getting back our league status.

Right now I would take a season of mid table obscurity and enjoying my Saturday afternoons again.

Given our current state I think thinking about getting back anywhere near the football league is somewhat getting ahead of ourselves!!! Just having a club to go and support is a far bigger thing to be pleased and giddy about at the moment!!!!

    Exactly.
A long time before we return to the EFL.

Internet seems to ‘think’ that his current wealth is $1.5M (£1.22M)
It may be more, who knows 🤷‍♂️
Maybe he’s buying the club for a £ and Mr Swann is keeping the stadium, training pitch and land?
    We might find out shortly?
    🤷‍♂️💥🤷‍♂️

Has he enough ‘wonga’ to steady the ship?

Will the Vice Admiral be at the helm?

The devil will be on the detail and I would hope the detail is transparent if and when a deal is finally done. Might be premature to be anxious about his individual wealth – he may have other investors.

Even Getting back in the football league this decade may prove to be challenging.

Club Comms 1: ‘it’s all over the Internet that Hilton’s close to a deal – shall we put something out, anything?’

Club Comms 2: ‘Nah – Peter says no’.

    Just guessing.

    Is it Hilton & Friends?
    Or, just Hilton?
    Time will tell.

I understand that a deal for the former Ilkeston Town chairman David Hilton to buy @SUFCOfficial as well as Glanford Park and the land surrounding the stadium is hoped to be completed today. None of the parties involved are commenting at this time. #Iron #UTI @RadioHumberside”

I’d be interested to know his source if nobody is commenting!!

The op tells us not to get too giddy until we get the details. He then says “from what I’ve read” which is throwing more BS into the pot.

All this pretending & speculating has become really boring.

Why can’t people just wait & react to actual fact.

Barely a week since Ian and Simon pulled out of the deal and now very quickly this new investor has come forward and a deal is supposedly nearly done. Could Ian and Simon be part of this new investment group and if things go through could they join a new board at GP?

That would make sense Ironawe let’s hope your right, ready made chairman in Hilton freeing Ian and Simon up to do whatever they do, from what we can see a safe pair of hands in Hilton and prospect of developing the land to help himself and the club, win win all round.

Was thinking the same IA, if they all put the interests of the club first and have money to invest then why not? Happens on Dragons Den all the time!!!

Who has ultimate control of the club and egos might not allow it though.

And if any posters find it that boring, they are always welcome to stop reading it and reacting. It’s a forum, it’s normal practice.

That doesn’t mean that you have to read/watch them.

It seems that everything is LCD these days.

Well, I know little about David Hilton, but may I offer a heartfelt congratulations from this GTFC fan. To be a supporter of a club like Grimsby Town you have to be a lover of football first and foremost, and no football lover could enjoy what Peter Swann was doing to your club, no matter the rivalry.

I realise that the jeopardy is far from over, but the main thing is that you still have a club to follow and a ground to watch it in for the foreseeable future. I for one hope you pull yourselves together quickly enough to avoid relegation, but whatever the remainder of this season brings I wish you all the best. Christ, I never thought I’d find myself writing that on here.

Enjoy tonight; enjoy a beer, a glass of wine or a wee dram, whatever your poison. The future starts tomorrow, but just take a moment to enjoy tonight, because you so easily could have been history.

Cheers Poojah, read a few of your posts over the years on the fishy forum, thanks for your support and a lot of your fishy friends too, let’s hope we can resume our football feuding in the not too distant future, even a cup tie would suffice.
