It’s no guarantee of course but most seasons 46 points, 1 point/game, is just enough to stay up in this league.

We currently have 7 points from 10 games, which is equivalent to 32 points over the course of the whole season.

To get to 46 points this season, we need another 39 points which is 13 wins. With 36 games left, that would mean having to win slightly more than 1 game in 3.

Put another way, we have to average just over a point per game for the rest of the season. That shouldn’t be a big ask but given we’ve picked up 20 points from our last 29 games, something is clearly going to have to change and soon!

This run isn’t a blip or a slump, 29 games is more than half a season. This is what we are. Is it any wonder that we’re odds on with the bookies to go down?

Oldham have the same number of points as us. Walsall and Mansfield two more, and Bristol Rovers, Carlisle and Colchester three more.

In theory all six are catchable. So really the points tally isn’t that important as long as we are better than at least two of them.

Which, admittedly looks as unlikely as matching last year’s points total.

A 2 point point gap now extrapolates to a 9 point gap by the end of the season. So we’d still need to out-perform those clubs by 10 points over 36 games. Challenging!

A 2 point point gap now extrapolates to a 9 point gap by the end of the season.

That’s why we need to kick-on NOW! Don’t leave it to the end of the season. Had we hung onto winning positions against Sutton and Carlisle we’d have had more points than all six of those teams I listed.

But we didn’t! And whatever or whoever was the cause of that needs to be sorted out NOW!

Not in five games time Mr Swann, NOW!

    Challenging indeed!

    Very much so NI!

It’s all very well saying “two or three wins gets us up the table” but we’d a) have to maintain that sort of form for the rest of the season and b) it’s taken us 29 games (T-W-E-N-T-Y N-I-N-E) games to get our last 2 wins!

also goals….. its all very well relying on Loft and Scrimshaw – both of whom will be lucky to get 10 goals per season – aside from Beestin and the odd defender chipping in – this team is set up not to lose and then we go a goal behind there is no other plan. Something like 46 games where we have not come back from being behind to win and even worse stats away from home. That is the totality of Cox’s reign.

last 22 games we have scored 9 goals. Half a season – 9 goals. To get these points to survive we need to start scoring goals.

Man alive, I hadn’t done the sums on goals scored, can it really only be 9? That is just atrocious.

Its OK because Swann said some of those 0-0 games we should’ve won – I think in the ‘should’ve league’ we are 13th and comfortable

Northumbiron—-Whilst making reference to these other six very poor teams, please take into consideration that they do not have a coaching team of Cox, Lillis and Mussa standing on their touch line, and that they are very poor this season, and have a chance of some kind of recovery, where as we have been pathetic for three seasons and are seen to be getting worse week by week. The other thing is that Scunthorpe has been hit by a virus called Covid, and Scunthorpes players get injured where these two problems do not effect these other six teams if you listen to Swanns reasons for us being bottom of the league.

And he expects supporters to be turning up on match days in droves, what a bloody team of cluless management has been assembled all at one club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, mind after saying that, the team can also be classed in this groupe.

NI why don’t you come straight out and say Swann needs to get rid of Cox. Unless you think it’s in the whatever box. I must admit I thought this season would be a breeze to achieve at least mid table but I am way off the mark. Scunthorpe do tend to buck trends though.

Buck trends eh Awaywego, well maybe your right but as things currently stand it’s just a complete buck up.

It’s very much in the whatever or whoever box Awaywego.

We definitely need a more proactive management team if we are to have any chance of staying in the league.

But having heard Swann’s interview last night Cox is going nowhere for a while yet. And if he did, the usual format is to put someone like Tony McMahon in as caretaker to save another few quid.

The pantomime season has started early at the SVS with Baron Hardup in charge. Our only hope is finding a Fairy Godmother, a genie’s lamp or some magic beans!

Though he did say if the fans want to buy the club they can, that’s a positive. Personally I would just like to buy the ground and let someone else buy the football club.
