Having read Mr Butlers comments in todays ST it is what I expected !

We should not be in this position as simple as that. Feel sorry for all the fans who have backed requests from the club to get down and support the team. The supporters have been let down so far – they had better get this right !

We’re at the top of the league with our destiny in our own hands. How is that letting down the supporters?

For one of the most sensible and reasonable posters on this site, I’m very surprised to read this sort of entitled rubbish. Supporters don’t “deserve” anything, our support is not conditional.

    I DO HOPE I’M WRONG!

    Saturday 12th April

    Chester v Darlington … 2-1
    Kiddy v Curzon … 1-1
    Scunny v Spenny … 1-1
    Warrington v Brackley … 1-3

    Friday 18th April

    Brackley v Oxford … 1-1
    KLT v Scunny … 1-1
    Rushall v Kiddy … 1-2
    Southport v Chester … 0-0

    Monday 21st April

    Chester v Marine … 2-1
    Kiddy v Hereford … 3-1
    Leamington v Brackley … 1-2
    Scunny v Pboro 3-1

    Saturday 26th April

    Brackley v Farsley … 5-0
    Hereford v Scunny … 1-1
    KLT v Chester … 2-1
    Southport v Kiddy … 1-2

It looks to me as if we will go in to the last game of the season:

1] praying that Farsley can at least hold Brackley to a draw at St James Park.

2] Southport doing the same (or beat) Kiddy in their home clash.

3] if the above two happened then we’d need to win at Hereford to win the league by a point.

It looks as if Kiddy will be Champions on goal difference.

Saturday is a must, must win game.
We’ve got to win it… or it’s all over.

3rd place and the play offs await.

All done in the best possible taste, as Kenny used to say!

    IMH(umble)O

    Kiddy 90
    Brakly 90
    Scunny 87
    Chesta 82

We’d all like to have steamrollered every side we came across, won every game, been 15 points clear and all that stuff. But if last season didn’t teach you that the division is harder than expected (whatever the quality of football) and that it’s a real grind to get out of, then you weren’t paying attention.

I’ve backed Butler to get us promoted this season and still think he will.
There’s still going to be some tense games but I don’t see why we can’t do it. All the other wannabes are under the same pressure.
    Up The Iron !

But it is made harder when someone is so stubborn they stick to a format that was not working !

He adopted the philosophy of some we can win and the others we will try to draw. A defeatist mindset.
I hope for the fans that we do go up automatically because the play-offs demand scrapping for everything.

There’s always a big reaction when we get beat in this league, never mind in the 90th minute.

Think you’ll probably find the current mindset of not getting beat is apparent with a large proportion of mangers through the leagues now. Look at the state of the Manchester derby last week where both seemed more than content with a 0-0 draw. Seen plenty of people blame the Guardiola effect, not sure about that but there is a tendency for tactics to trickle down the leagues. Look at the nonsense we saw last year with sides trying to play out of the back on national league north.

For us to win this division in any given season, it is necessary to cut down on the draws.
12 points from 12 drawn matches this season. Oh, dear.
So very much better to win six, draw four and lose two. (Other winning combinations are possible but I just cannot see how we could realistically have been any worse off.)
Going for bust in every single game is surely the way forward. It might/might not work in L2 but I reckon that 6 levels down the pyramid …
Negative football is not welcome – and I don’t give a monkey’s cuss what other teams opt to do.

Agree and would add the spell playing the negative 5 at the back system for too long has also cost us.

If only we’d taken a point at Kiddy… we’d (according to FWP) win it on GD.

    Kiddy would finish on 88.
Brackley & Scunny would both finish on 90.
    We’d be ‘champs’ by GD.

Let’s see how it pans out in real life as opposed to predictions!

    Got to win tomorrow!

The pressure on ourselves, Kiddy and Brackley is identical. We all have positives in our favour. We have the point advantage. Kiddy, the best goal difference ( and goals scored) and Brackley, on paper, the easiest run in. All the games that remain for us this season are massive, whether we are top of the league or not, as today’s results saw us cement our place in the play offs). Like many, I thought we would draw today and at 5pm I was a very happy man. I agree with all the posters who have said, we need to go for it from the off, in all 3 remaining games. Based on today’s performance, I’d make one change for KLT: Carlton starting for Alfie Beestin. If Whitehall regains his fitness to play in any games this season, in my opinion, it should be from the bench, maybe in place of Campbell ( or is Fitz carrying an injury and AB worries he might break down?)

According to AB the other week Campbell will be staying on the bench for the run in, in case Fitz gets injured or is sent off.
