Although I think Dewhurst could have done better with the first goal. The amount of space the aldershots players was allowed to come forward to pathetic.

1st goal where was the full back?
2nd How was there centre mid allowed to come 20 yards with anyone near him?
    3. I can’t remember it 🫣

The problem is the defence have no protection from the centre mids. Beestin is a attack minded player. Butterfield is a creative player. So where is the ball winner?

So many times in the second half they found a stupid amount of room where they could just stroll forward.

Was a car crash formation wise. Ended up being a 3-4-3 for part of the games and we were completely overran in the middle.

Somehow we even allowed Cordner to masquerade as a false 9 for parts of the second half because no-one bothered tracking him when he kept bombing forward.

They threw caution to the wind at half time and defenders pushed forward into midfield. Beeston and Butterfield understandably chasing shadows.

Made worse by our wing backs becoming full backs. We were pretty much 5-2-3 for that first 20 minutes of the first half.

Made worse by the isolated front 3 switching to half hearted mode in their closing down.

All these things were blatantly obvious from the stands but we were desperately hanging on to a point by the time Pugh was moved into midfield to help stem the flow.

It was obvious Lavery was gone physically 10 minutes into the second half but took another 20 minutes to get Wilson on.

The players got the blame from Tony for the second half but I think he and Nelson have to shoulder some of the responsibility.

They made the right kind of changes but much too late.

Lack of squad depth (highlighted frequently on Bru) was a major factor yesterday. Where were the game changers, or even game savers, on the bench? We were only missing Feeney, Daniel and Ogle from a realistic starting 11 which would just about give us a match day squad with no allowance for injuries or suspensions. No transfer window restrictions so LET’S HAVE SOME ACTION!!!!

The second goal conceded was the one which troubled me regarding Dewhurst.

I like Beestin “getting back to something like his best” and Butterfield is classy but as mentioned above, neither are exactly defensive. We need Pugh or somebody defensive in there and go for a 3 in CM.

I’d go with a flat back 4 Nthle LB, Ogle RB and just hope to god Boyce is ok. Dewhurst is a worry but we all knew this could be the case. O’Malley did his customary walkabouts again, still say he’s a LW playing at FB.

Such a shame as where dynamite going forward but are dog mess at the back. In my opinion we definitely need to sure it up a and play Pugh as the sitter in midfield. If we keep going the way we are we’re going to have to score 4 every other game to have a chance of winning.

I’ve looked at both second and third of their goals.
Turned the screen for a better look, rubbed my eyes and looked again.
    Nope.
Still looks remarkably like a keeper pretending to try and save.

Don’t usually agree with you, but it did look like that to me too, a spectacular and useless dive.

At fault for the 1st goal because he could have played the ball wide to either Nthle or Boyce who were both free but no he dithered and kicked it long eventually. This resulted in Nthle rushing forward and getting caught out by Aldershots quick ball forward and then Dewhurst getting beat at his near post, from distance again.
