Southend survived several winding up petitions and if it got so severe Michelle may have stepped in eventually. Also, we wouldn’t have had the further stacks of debt brought on by Hilton, so we could well have been in a much more stable financial position without the exploits of the soiled saviour.

And maybe she wouldn’t, Southend survived because the owner kept paying the tax man at the last moment, do you honestly think Swanny would have? Told enough times on here he just wanted rid of the club so he could sell the ground and land to a developer. Was he a saint of course not but for me he brought the feel good factor back better players and decent food for everyone and that’s fine by me.

We don’t know what would have happened if Hilton hadn’t have stepped in then, but we do have a suspicion that ‘the saviour’ brought us to hours or days of destruction. Why? Is the club subsidising the food? It’s a business not a charity. If it’s profitable and makes business sense for them to continue doing the catering, surely they’ll stay if given the opportunity?
