Remember it well. All the Mags in our village hid from me for over a week. That after telling me at the beginning of the season we were an easy six points for them!

Look at the recruitment back then compared to recent seasons. The stars of the show like Woolford and Hooper were not big money signings but came from lower down the leagues. Hayes was in his second spell at the club and we had an experienced keeper in Murphy that let his defenders know exactly what he expected from them.

Oh Flower of Scunthorpe, when will we see your like again?

My best one was when we beat Leeds in the FA Cup in the 80s and I worked at the British Rail Works at Doncaster and a lot of my workmates were Leeds fans, one of the few times I ever looked forward to going to work.

What a great night when we won 4-0 ay Elland Road, I think that one comes second to the 3-1 win in the FA Cup at Newcastle in 1957, it’s great that we have these memories, I feel really sorry for recent fans that can only quote the Swann years, there only memory to pass on will be sorting in order the biggest lies!!!

‘ Oh flower of Scunthorpe when will we see your likes Again’

Gonna be long time before we are stable again. I really can’t see any slightest glimmer of light in the tunnel.
So that flower has well and truly been buried.

13 years ago, but how many managers between then and now? Including caretaker bosses.

We are Scunthorpe United not Man City. We need to give someone a proper bloody chance. We have sacked managers who are doing a lot better afterwards.

Get a professional manger in and promise some stability please.

To be fair to Calliste he did break and dislocate his ankle in preseason I believe, when he was at Liverpool and was thought to be a very promising young talent.
