October 20, 2022 at 9:45 am #247076Remember it well. All the Mags in our village hid from me for over a week. That after telling me at the beginning of the season we were an easy six points for them!
Look at the recruitment back then compared to recent seasons. The stars of the show like Woolford and Hooper were not big money signings but came from lower down the leagues. Hayes was in his second spell at the club and we had an experienced keeper in Murphy that let his defenders know exactly what he expected from them.
Oh Flower of Scunthorpe, when will we see your like again?

October 20, 2022 at 11:10 am #247079My best one was when we beat Leeds in the FA Cup in the 80s and I worked at the British Rail Works at Doncaster and a lot of my workmates were Leeds fans, one of the few times I ever looked forward to going to work.

October 20, 2022 at 11:39 am #247087What a great night when we won 4-0 ay Elland Road, I think that one comes second to the 3-1 win in the FA Cup at Newcastle in 1957, it’s great that we have these memories, I feel really sorry for recent fans that can only quote the Swann years, there only memory to pass on will be sorting in order the biggest lies!!!

Gonna be long time before we are stable again. I really can’t see any slightest glimmer of light in the tunnel.

October 22, 2022 at 12:31 pm #24725213 years ago, but how many managers between then and now? Including caretaker bosses.
We are Scunthorpe United not Man City. We need to give someone a proper bloody chance. We have sacked managers who are doing a lot better afterwards.
Get a professional manger in and promise some stability please.

October 22, 2022 at 2:27 pm #247254Can’t believe Robins is one of the longest serving managers in the EFL!
October 24, 2022 at 9:28 pm #247405To be fair to Calliste he did break and dislocate his ankle in preseason I believe, when he was at Liverpool and was thought to be a very promising young talent.
October 25, 2022 at 6:24 pm #247479The Leeds match (Second replay) That was of my favourites too.
