It is possible that the centre I used was giving Pfizer as standard and were happy for me to have the AZ,
I’d say that was unlikely. The leaflet I was given before my jab, which was a PHE/NHS publication had the following in the Q&A section: –
Q. Will I be offered a choice of vaccine?
A. Both the AstraZeneca (Oxford) and Pfizer vaccines have been shown to work well in all adult age groups. As our centres do not know from week to week which vaccine will be delivered patients are not able to choose which vaccine they receive. We would advise all patients to take up the offer of vaccination and not delay in the hope of having a specific vaccine at a later date.
So another area of Bucks’s expertise is knowing which town to live in to enable him to have the choice of a good old British vaccine over a nasty German/American one. Still love to know where it is.
