Hardly surprising given the successful vaccine rollout.
As for flags, who cares? The pathetic bawling from both sides has been unedifying. From right wing babies wanting repercussions for a joke by BBC presenters (talk about cancel culture) to leftists treating having the union flag as akin to the Nazi flag.
A grip needs to be got. I don’t think it’s necessary for a flag to be present in MP homes, it means nothing if an MP doesn’t have one, but it’s not worth this ridiculous slamming of those who do as imperialists by the so witty leftists who like to call Starmer Keith. Likewise, the pearl clutching about slight jokes against those who have a flag by the right wing ‘snowflakes’ is embarrassing. Self-deprecating humour is a British stereotype, yet these patriots don’t represent it.
These culture wars are pathetic. Not everyone critical of the UK hates Britain, not everything Britain does is awful. Yet argue for something in favour of the UK and some will say it’s you ignoring British evils, but argue critically of the UK’s actions now or in history and others say you hate the UK. Tedious, anti-intellectual nonsense from both sides, which removes nuance for simplistic narratives which suit the agenda.
Post of the year.
