The problem runs deeper than one winger, yes (as I have said), yet you’ve made it sound like conceding four goals was because we didn’t play Hippolyte who is but one winger.
I don’t think the result would have been any different with Hippolyte in, but we would have looked even more weak up front. Hippolyte would have done nothing to prevent any of those four goals, which came from defensive errors seen throughout the season so far. The one difference is that Forest Green were by far the best team we’ve seen this season and were organised enough to continue exploiting our weaknesses.
People were wanting Eisa in as a means of hoping for the best and because he is better than Hippolyte on best form and even in his current poorer form there are more promising signs. The talk of Hornshaw being played out of position, questions over Spence and Vincent, lack of experience in management and team, and defensive errors have been consistently argued by many on here throughout, so I don’t think it’s fair to start making out people were blind to this and saw Eisa as a foolproof fix.
