One thing I don’t get is, is that Cox is choosing to play with tucked in wingers because he doesn’t want to leave the full backs and midfield exposed.
Why doesn’t he just tell Vincent and Spence to sit in midfield and the full backs to feed the ball to either Eisa and Gillead and get straight back and let Eisa and Gillead do their thing and cause mischief ?
If he’s hell bent on playing with no width, he may as well switch back to that crap 5/2/1/2 formation. Stick Onaraise in alongside the slack Bedeau and green Cordner. Stick Rowe RWB, O’Malley LWB…Spence and Vincent in the middle with Gillead in behind Loft and McAtee.
Only problem with that is, Taylor is better in that position than Gillead but Gillead has to play because he’s makeshift captain, who’s deemed the leader of that team.
Means though we’re carrying arguably going by what we saw our best midfielder and won’t even end up seeing him play. I suppose you could stick him in CM instead of Vincent but he’s better further forward which means to accommodate Taylor, we’re going to end up with Gillead and Taylor out of position.
Taylor is a very good player but did we really need him ?. McAtee can play there, Hallam also can along with Gillead. Cox won’t play with out and out wingers because of the full backs that are currently playing, as stated above…why didn’t we sign an experienced LB ?
An experienced LB, Clarke in at RB, Onariase and McGahey when back fit, we suddenly have a much more experienced back line.
If anything signing Taylor has muddied the waters…signing him has just further complicated things. I greeted the signing because I thought he could play in CM and be just as effective but going by what I’ve read he’s an attacking midfielder who really plays in the no 10 role.
We already have options there.
